Providing a safe environment for children is and always has been one of Lincoln Landscaping’s Core Values that we strive to achieve. With regards to the grounds at Jefferson Township Middle Schools, we implemented a spraying of Cedar Oil to knock back the mosquitos and tick population.
What Is Cedar Oil Anyway?
Cedar oil is an essential oil with many uses that comes from conifer trees of the cypress or pine families. Cedar oil is most commonly used in aromatherapy and also in pest control. Cedar oil has anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties and is considered safe enough by the Food & Drug Administration to be used as a preservative for foods. Ancient Egyptians even used it in their embalming practices, Â because of how good it was at keeping away insects.
So What Does Cedar Oil Do?
Cedar oil will help control many different insects and pests. It is toxic to ticks, fleas and mosquitoes specifically, which are the most common undesirable insects. It is also toxic to a variety of other insects.  Another reason to use cedar oil is that it’s completely non-toxic to humans and pets, so no need to worry about that when using cedar oil.
How Does Cedar Oil Work?
Cedar oil is great at what it does. Not only that but it does the job in many different ways. Cedar oil kills insects in 6 ways:
1.) Dehydrates
2.)Â Dissolves insect larvae
3.) Encapsulation and/or emulsification of body fats
4.) Neutralization of bodily fluids
5.) Neutralizes breathing
6.) Pheromonal interference
Spraying this stuff on your lawn is sure to be effective against all kinds of insects and does a great job of making your yard a more comfortable place. Plus, rodents also do not like to be around cedar oil. Spraying cedar oil can be a great relief for anyone who’s been looking for a simple solution to any pest problem. Here’s a list of insects cedar oil can get rid of:
