Perennial Planting – Seasonal Color

The project below was completed at the Edison Board of Education Center in Edison, New Jersey. It was a perennial planting for season long color to improve and enhance the atmosphere as well as the appearance of the Center. After amending the soil with our organic soil amendments were properly graded it off for planting.
The long bed to the right we planted masses of liriope throughout, with their feathery leaf and spike light blue flower. Hollies anchor the corner with spendid shades of shiny green leaves. Between the masses of liriope we planted masses of rudbeckia (black-eyed susans) with their bright yellow blossoms. Annuals were planted in small grouping for color also.
The center bed was planted with sedum autumn joy complemented by Platycodon grandiflorus, commonly known as balloon flower. Mix in some dusty millers with shades of gray and Voila!
At the corner bed we grouped a mass of pervoskia – Russian Sage – with its fern like appearance and gorgeous blue plumes. These were accented with dusty millers and low growing annuals for effect.
