We thought we’d show you some examples across a diverse spectrum of applications that showcase our “unique and green” services within the green industry. From complete renovations of existing residential lawns and properties and finally some examples of some fine produce that you can put on your kitchen table and “relish” utilizing our techniques and services.
First on the menu we have –
100% Organic – residential lawn maintenance
This client came to us with a lawn that was a total disaster. For a long duration it underwent heavy chemical applications and improper watering. The result was horrendous. Nut Sedge, which is a perennial and grass-like weed that seeks out the poorly drained areas of the lawn, was all over the place. It is extremely tough to control once it gets a grip as it grows from tiny tubers that form on the roots that often can be eight (8) inches deep. When you pull them out, these remain and voila, “we’re back”.
There were areas that were dry, discolored, patchy and just plain ugly all over the lawn areas. Any sort of family activity or gathering of sorts was out of the question. The client was at wit’s end trying to come up with a viable solution to this dilemma in his yard.
So what we did was attack the problem head on with a complete organic transition and maintenance procedure implemented. We began by giving the existing soil a total reworking. After removing as much of the lawn as possible, we tilled the soil and amended it with organic compost and fertilizers with compost tea. We added lime and other nutrients to attain a proper growing medium for the new seed.
Three years down the road the results of this ongoing Organic Lawn Maintenance Program are simply amazing and the entire lawn looks lush, green and extremely healthy again.
Next up on the Organic Ala Carte menu is
100% Organic Produce – home gardening
In early spring here at home we put it in overdrive once more for another season of organic gardening. The entire family gets involved and it is just a wonderful, happy and rewarding learning experience for the whole Kolenut Clan.
Here’s an example of our Mid-August harvest this year
- Cherry tomatoes
- Squashes
- Melons
- Tomatoes
- Eggplant
We practice organic pest control in our gardens with the release of praying mantis in the spring time. We utilize compost tea and composting organically with leftovers from our kitchen. Often putting the residues of the produce right back into the very spot we grew it at. That’s efficiency there.
We teach children every year during the early part of the growing season with workshops and learning classes that the entire family can attend and become involved with. – see post
